Safety First

Protect Your
Crew & Crowd.

Consumer fireworks are legal fun β€” but they demand respect. Follow these guidelines every single time, no exceptions.

⚠️
Never handle fireworks while impaired. Alcohol and fireworks are a dangerous combination. Designate a sober operator for every show. This is non-negotiable.
Before the Show
πŸ“‹
Check Local Laws First
Firework laws vary by city and county in Utah. Check with your local municipality before purchasing or firing any fireworks. Some areas ban all consumer fireworks.
🌬️
Check Wind & Fire Conditions
High winds can carry sparks into dry brush. Check the Red Flag warnings for your area. If conditions are dry and windy, postpone your show.
πŸ’§
Prepare Water Sources
Have at least one full bucket of water and a hose nearby before lighting anything. Designate a second person to manage the water supply.
πŸ‘₯
Assign Roles Before You Start
One person fires. One person manages crowd distance. One person handles water. Never let spectators wander into the firing zone during setup.
πŸ—ΊοΈ
Inspect Your Firing Site
Clear the area of dry grass, debris, and obstacles. Ensure the site is flat and stable. Never fire near overhead power lines, trees, or structures.
πŸ“¦
Inspect Your Fireworks
Check every product for damage, moisture, or loose fuses before the show. Never use damaged or wet fireworks. Return them to the retailer.
During the Show
πŸ“
Maintain Safe Crowd Distance
Spectators must be at least 70 feet from any firing position. With the Cobra wireless system, you can easily stand 100+ feet away while firing.
🚫
Never Lean Over a Lit Firework
If a firework doesn't fire immediately, do not approach it. Wait 30 minutes, then soak it thoroughly with water before approaching. With electric ignition, misfires are rare but possible.
πŸ‘€
Keep Eyes on the Sky
Watch every burst. If debris or sparks fall in an unexpected direction, be ready to call for water. Assign someone specifically to watch for falling embers.
πŸ”‡
Keep Pets & Kids Away
Dogs and children should be at a safe distance and supervised during the entire show. The loud sounds and bright flashes can cause panic and unexpected movement.
πŸ”’
Use the Safety Switch
The Cobra 18R2 has a physical safety switch. Keep it in the SAFE position any time you're not actively firing. Arm only when ready to fire a cue.
🧯
Have a Fire Extinguisher Ready
A dry chemical or COβ‚‚ fire extinguisher should be within arm's reach of your firing position. Know how to use it before the show starts.
After the Show
⏱️
Wait Before Approaching
After your last firework, wait at least 15–20 minutes before approaching the firing site. Smoldering shells can reignite unexpectedly.
πŸ’§
Soak Everything Down
Use your hose to thoroughly soak all spent shells, mortar tubes, and the surrounding ground before collecting debris. Do not put wet fireworks in a trash can immediately β€” leave them wet overnight first.
🧹
Dispose of Debris Properly
Bag all spent firework debris in a plastic bag and leave it outdoors overnight before placing in the trash. Never put hot or dry debris directly in a trash bin near your home.

Know Utah's Firework Laws

Utah state law permits consumer fireworks but allows cities and counties to impose stricter restrictions or outright bans. Statewide bans apply during declared fire emergencies. The State Fire Marshal maintains current information at firemarshal.utah.gov.

The Cobra 18R2 firing system is an ignition device, not a firework. You are responsible for ensuring the fireworks you use comply with all applicable laws in your location. Boom Crew assumes no liability for unlawful use of rented equipment.
